this center will enable us to more easily engaged in and accelerate research so survivorship will continue to grow. It allows us to more directly and fully provide compassionate, personalized cancer care for the Hampton Roads community and the entire region, from diagnosis to unfortunately, in some cases, end of life in a healing and nurturing environment. It is not hyperbole to call this transformational. We certainly thank and express our measurable gratitude and words to Joan and her family for this incredibly generous donation. However, we will thank them and show our gratitude in a much greater way. By making this institution more than the beautiful brick and mortar structure that we see behind me today, it should and will reflect the hope, dedication, perseverance and survivorship that all patients will experience when they cross that threshold.
